Message by the Honorable
Minister of Cooperatives

In the Name of Him, the Most High
Implementation of the “export leap” strategy that is among executive policies of the government in the course of the Third Economic, Social and Cultural Plan can be realized through enforcement of measures and adoption of mechanisms such as lifting ban on exports, removing impediments and eliminating redundant formalities, exempting exports from tariffs and introducing the required incentives, including formation of non-governmental funds especially for supporting export formations.
Effective and proper measures have been taken in the past two years with an aim to facilitate exports such as elimination of hard currency guarantee, exemption of tariffs, formulation and ratification of regulations for the establishment of export promotion funds and strengthening value of the national currency in an effort to stabilize exports and bank interest rates. Such steps were taken with an aim to prevent rise in the finished price of export goods in order to preserve status of export commodities at international markets, impacts of which have been manifested in the export boost in the Iranian calendar year 1380 (March 2001-March 2002) both in terms of volume and value of the exports.
Implementation of the aforementioned policies in most instances necessitates strengthening and establishment of export formations that would in return prepare the ground for strong presence in international markets.
Passive and inactive performance of non-professional exporters, in addition to damaging export markets and even in certain cases losing them, has unfortunately affected the image of our country’s foreign trade.
Institutionalization and consolidation of the activities of exporters and producers would not only speed up dissemination of information as a prerequisite for every single economic activity but would also facilitate presence in various markets through participation in exhibitions and employment of other mechanisms. It would also prepare the ground for offering technical, consulting and legal services as well as for defending interests of exporters outside the country.
Realization of the above-mentioned points would both decrease finished prices and increase economic priority while it would subsequently boost competitiveness and pave the way for taking advantage of better opportunities.
In an effort to create and strengthen export formations, identify their export potentials and help them to get prepared for suitable and effective presence in various markets, the Cooperative Ministry has so far organized exhibitions on export capabilities of the cooperative sector in areas such as metallurgical and machine manufacturing industries, telecommunications, power and electricity, textile and clothing, minerals and construction materials, chemicals and celluloid substances, foodstuffs, carpet and handicrafts, agriculture and aquatics, technical, engineering and export services
It is hoped that the Third Exhibition of Export Capabilities of the Cooperative Sector that has been held with the participation of over 280 companies and cooperatives with the cooperation of the Exhibition Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the said fields, could help the cooperative sector, and subsequently other economic sectors of the country, achieve the aforementioned targets.

Cooperative Minister
